Facial recognition for the masses
Riya opened up their facial recognition beta, and I just signed up before they changed their mind. After vetting the service, I'm interested in trying this out at my daughter's day-care. The teachers there take a lot of digital photos, and spend a lot of time actually organizing them into albums for the parents.
I'm always reluctant to introduce folks to technology I might end up supporting (esp. bleeding edge 2.0 technology that might not work or risks speedy yahoo-acquisition), but I hope Riya lives up to it's promise. My 2 year old experiment installing Linspire for my friend (the daycare director) has been a great success - modulo the occasional donated hardware device that makes linux unhappy. But both their bandwidth for new ways of doing things and mine for supporting them forces me to be selective.
Also, in other open beta news, I got my Google Analytics account. Now if I could just find the time to play with either...
