iFolder Anecdote

Testing iFolder. iFolder is a cool project by Novell to allow for on the fly sharing of files between workgroup members. A user sets up an address book of local users, and then adds those users to the ifolder share. The newly... [Common Dream]

Alan echos my issue with the first open source release of iFolders: no firewall traversal. I don't think the intra-LAN-file synching is a killer app, because there are so many other ways to do it. Still, I am encouraged because the stuff it needs (firewall traversal, addressbook PIM synchronization) have been done for the most part by other projects like Waste and Sync4j, and just needs to be bolted on to iFolders.

I expect once you have those features, photo sharing sites like http://flickr.com/ (via Scoble) won't need to exist.
